Pictures capture moments. Experiences create memories.
Enjoying the experience of being with the animals comes first, and capturing a good image, that's a bonus. This is important to remember, as so often we can get lost behind the camera. Sometimes we need to take a step back and appreciate what we're witnessing.
A Bit About Me
Having followed my better half to Canada in 2015, I photographed brown and black bears using my old man's camera. At the time I had no knowledge of how to use it effectively. But the humbling experience of being metres away from these apex predators, observing and capturing their natural behaviour inspired me to pursue wildlife photography.
The following year I got my first camera and took a course to learn the basic principles of how to use it.
2017 I went on my first photographic trip to the Cairngorms to photograph Mountain Hares.
2020 I won my first award in international competition Asferico, being Highly Commended for ‘Hareball’. An image of the very same hare I photographed on my trip a few years earlier.
